Volunteers are currently needed in all areas of the event.

 

Catering (Keynote Dinner) - Ticket Taker takes keynote dinner tickets on Saturday afternoon.

Charity - Ticket Sellers will be at tables during play parties to sell drawing tickets to guests. Assist in the drawing of prize tickets. During the parties we will also have a couple ticket sellers walking around the social areas.

CheckIn - Greeters will welcome attendees, direct them to fill out release forms, explain that they need to have valid ID and release forms filled out and signed and then direct them to the Secret Agents to check in, get their badges, etc.

                - Secret Agents will ensure each attendee has filled out release forms completely, check for matching valid ID, file release forms, hand out badges and (when Bag Agents are not on duty) SWAG bags and any shirts, pins and other merchandise purchased through registration.
(Note: Due to the sensitive nature of the information Secret Agents will work with, applicants for these positions must be smOdyssey members and must be approved by the Board of Directors.)

               - Bag Agents will hand out SWAG bags and any shirts, pins and other merchandise ordered through registration.

Command Central - Liaisons run food & water to different volunteer positions. Run errands for day/night coordinators. Basically an overall go-fer for those that needs one.

Dungeon Operations - Equipment Transportation, Setup and Takedown Dungeon Techs load equipment onto trucks at several storage locations, move equipment from the trucks to the dungeon space, assemble, place and otherwise prepare equipment for the dungeon play party. After the event: disassemble the dungeon, load equipment back onto trucks and return it to where it came from. Must be able to lift 50-80 pounds. Should be familiar with nuts, bolts and the associated tools. Dungeon Techs earn 1.5 hours credit toward volunteer discounts for each hour worked.

                                   - DMs facilitate the safe play of all party guests,
enforce the event Party Rules and work in concert with EMS and security
in emergency situations. DMs working the first shift will assist with
final dungeon set-up activities. DMs working the late shift will assist
with dungeon breakdown activities.

All DM's must have successfully completed the Dungeon Monitor
Association (DMA) Beginning Dungeon Monitor Training Course. All DM's
must attend the pre-party DM meeting to review the party rules, the
shift schedule, walk through the dungeon, and answer last minute questions.

Education - Class Demos will be “used“ in demonstrations for the presenters as needed..very few of these positions available.

                  - Presenter Liaisons serve as "go-fers" and ambassadors to our instructors while maintaining order and facilitating the smooth beginning/closing of class. Liaisons are also responsible for distributing/collecting class evaluation surveys and submitting them to the designated team lead or drop box. Liaisons earn volunteer credit for the 30-min set up time prior to class and the 30-min clean up time immediately after class (for a total of 1 hour).

Folsom Street Fair Booth - Booth Setup and Takedown Volunteers assist in the set up/tear down of the smOdyssey booth at the Folsom Street Fair. Time needed will include travel time and booth setup/teardown. Booth Setup and Takedown Volunteers earn 1.5 hours credit toward volunteer discounts for each hour worked.

                                           - smOdyssey Liaisons will interact with Fair visitors who have questions about BDSM, leather, smOdyssey, etc. Usually 2 hour commitments.

Merchandise - Sales Agents will be at tables during classes and play parties to sell smOdyssey merchandise like T-shirts mugs and pins.

Party Cleanup team member will be wiping down pieces, picking up trash, sweeping, refilling supplies, collecting lost n found, rearranging furniture, etc

Party Entrance person They will be required to ensure each person has an smOdyssey badge and/or party tickets. NO cash will be taken at the door.
Security - Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provide First Responder-type medical care in those occasions where it might be required. (These positions require first responder training (or better) with current certification for basic life support.)

Security - Security Agents ensure that smOdyssey Events are both safe and secure. Ensure that only guests, event staff, and hotel personnel (if applicable) are allowed into the event. Ensure that all attendees comply with the event rules, including the display of event ID nametags or bracelets. Control access into areas not open to the public, and assist guests with their questions and concerns. Work in concert with EMS and DMs (at parties) during an emergency.

Transportation - Bus Concierge Assists passengers onto the buses at the Hotel and at Folsom street fair. Advise the passengers of where the buses will be for pickup and at what times.
