FolsomFringe'10 will be featuring a drawing and silent auction to benefit our charities: Pets Are Wonderful Support (P.A.W.S); The Billy DeFrank LGBT Community Center and The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF)
You’ll have the opportunity to purchase drawing tickets to win fantastic items. There will be drawings on Friday and Saturday, so you’ll want to buy tickets both days. You can purchase drawing tickets from Team Odyssey members roaming classes and the lobby or via credit card at the smOdyssey booth. All processed for the drawings will go to PAWS and Billy de Frank Center.
The silent auction will be open until Saturday night just before our Evening nourish starts at 7:00 pm. The gift basket and sign up sheet will be located in the lobby by the FolsomFringe Concierge. Bid often and generously, since all processed of the silent auction money will go to the NCSF.
If you are interested in donating items, please email charity@folsomfringe.com
More about our selected charites and their works;
Pets Are Wonderful Support (P.A.W.S)
Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) is a volunteer-based organization that provides for the comprehensive needs of companion animals for low-income persons with disabling HIV/AIDS and other disabling illnesses, as well as senior citizens. By providing these essential support services, educating the larger community on the benefits of the human-animal bond, and advocating for the rights of disabled individuals to keep service animals, PAWS improves the health and well-being of disabled individuals and the animals in their lives.
The Billy DeFrank LGBT Community Center
The Billy DeFrank LGBT Community Center opened its doors on March 1, 1981 in a two-room storefront on Keyes St. in south downtown San Jose. A year earlier, the DeFrank Center's founders had watched with concern as Santa Clara County residents voted to repeal ordinances extending housing and employment protections to lesbians and gay men.
The new DeFrank Center emerged from a desire to respond to this setback. As its first visitors entered they crossed the threshold to a new era of possibility for the gay and lesbian community of the South Bay, and they celebrated an important victory. Since then, the DeFrank Center has continued to inspire purposeful action and ensure a safe place to gather for all in our community.
NCSF
The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom is a national organization committed to creating a political, legal, and social environment in the United States that advances equal rights of consenting adults who practice forms of alternative sexual expression. NCSF is primarily focused on the rights of consenting adults in the SM-leather-fetish, swing, and polyamory communities, who often face discrimination because of their sexual expression.
